Let it go.
I’m working on some posts inspired by my recent trip and talks at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival. It’s always a great time, a great hang, and I am always profoundly humbled and thankful that I get to hang out with people who know so much more than me, and who play so much better than I do. Totally inspiring. Posts about this year’s fest to follow.
Anyway, at the fest this year, in casual conversation, I recounted Victor Wooten’s presentation a couple years ago which I posted on the blog. A high school kid raised his hand and asked how he could overcome the problem of having large hands. Victor set the kid straight. This picture of Chinese artist Huang Guofu overcoming (read: crushing!) his limitations reminded me of Wooten’s words of wisdom.
I wish I spoke Chinese. Huang talks briefly of the long hours of practice he put in on his art. Fantastic on many levels!
I have to frequently remind myself to stop finding excuses and get to work. Examples like Huang Guofu’s help a lot. Hope it helps you, too.
